Our History

The Scottish Mondeo Forum (SMF) was formed in February 2004 as a sister site to the 'Performance Ford Club'.

The founding members of PFC, Shaun Purdie and Alan Stewart were looking to improve the opportunities for Mondeo events north of the border and recognising there was no singular club for Mondeo owners in Scotland they called on the Mondeo owners from Performance Ford Club and Scottish based members from sites down south to create the Scottish Mondeo Forum.

The first meeting at Strathclyde country park on the 1st February 2004 allowed members to meet each other for the first time and to discuss the future of the club and the direction they were taking.

From that first meeting the club has grown from strength to strength and has well over 100 members spread across Scotland including one or two from other countries.

2005 Saw the clubs first national magazine feature when Fast Ford covered the Rolling Road Day at Dastek, Fife in August. The article spanned 4 pages with information on members power runs and photographs of those members with their cars.
The success of the Rolling Road day has prompted similar days since, with more SMF Rolling Road events planned for each year.

In 2006 Adrian Flux Insurance Services announced they would sponsor the club. Providing discounts on car insurances for club members and helping towards the overheads incurred in running the club.

Now in the club's 4th year, The Scottish Mondeo Forum is still one of the longest standing owners clubs in Scotland. Attending all the major events across the calendar including Knockhill and Crail Hot Hatch Days and the massive yearly Fast and Modified Show.
With plans to take the club south of the border for national shows including Ford Fair and Mondeo Mania, 2008 is looking to be the biggest and best year for the club and all its members.

The SMF Website

The Scottish Mondeo Forum website is built around the Messaging Board system, phpBB3, by phpBB.

Originally built with phpBB2, the site has changed many times to keep it fresh and up to date.
Many modifications have been carried out to the original software to provide our users with the best and easiest browsing experience when using SMF.
The biggest and most popular addition to the website came in 2006 when the phpBB garage software was implimented to the site allowing members to show off their car's and the modification carried out to them.

An online shopping system powered by OsCommerce was also added in 2006 meaning members could order customisable club merchandise and pay for it without having to wait on a club administrator to deal with it.

In 2007 phpBB announced the replacement for its version 2 software with version 3.
After several months of behind the scenes tweaks and changes, the new SMF Forum was unveiled to the members incorporating many updated features and more pleasurable browsing. The introduction of the 'Resources' section allowed members to get the best deals and useful information on products and services form 3rd party companies directly from the SMF Homepage.
