Reet, just been on the phone with nick for about 45 minutes. he has been thinking about doing a line of genuine carbon fiber parts for the MK2. this is just a thread to get ideas and opinions on what people think. nick has already spoke to a company who can make molds for anything he wants, and make the parts in carbon, but obviously he has to pay up front to get the molds made. so far, he is thinking about headlight eybrows as a start point, and IMRC covers. we discussed different avenues, i suggested morettes, i think they would look awesome as i know a lad who had some genuine carbon one's made for his escort. nothing is off limits, they can pretty much make anything if nick sends them the parts to make a mold, so would anyone be interested, and what other parts do you think would sell if so ?

price wise, its not going to be cheap, but remember, this is GENUINE carbon fibre parts.

early indications, price wise, are

headlight eyebrows, £90 - £100

IMRC covers, around £150 - £160

also, if there was enough interest, im sure MK1 and MK3 parts wouldnt be off limits, but as i said, one off parts isnt really an option, as the molds are expensive to get made, so he would need more than one off orders to start with, but obviously once the molds are made, parts could be ordered one at a time. this would be from a company who make carbon fibre parts, so they will be making them for nick, he just has to pay for the molds to be made, then the cost to him for them to make the parts.

if he wants to sell numbers as he will have to i think he would be better of sticking to the most
popular models like the focus ,escort or even scooby's

he has a lot more contacts in the mondeo world keith. and when you look at the price of these, even though most will think £100 is expensive for eyebrows, compared to these, its cheap as chips

exactally mate, and the prices nick will be selling them for if he goes for it, will be VERY reasonable, well, in carbon fibre terms anyway lol.

i think the headlight eyebrows may seem pricey, but you pay £20+ for the plastic one's which then need painting. the IMRC covers are very reasonable in the £150-£160 area aswel, from america, there about £15-£20 less, but you dont have import tax, shipping etc to worry about, and your buying from a UK seller.

i genuinely wish him luck with it, just needs some concrete interest and a few deposits, and he could well get the idea moving. its just will people want to outlay that kind of money ?, personally, i wouldnt mind saving for a bit, for genuine, carbon parts.

in the link i posted, that gives you an idea of what people think they can get for one off parts, when carbon fiber, and if nick gets this moving, he can sell them at a fraction of the cost.

TBH mate, I don't see there being too much interest on here which is a shame, opening a bonnet and seeing real carbon = WIN and respect, opening it and seeing stick-on carbon = FAIL.
Its one of those things you do it right or not at all.

I like the idea, and hope u get abit of interest from this, although i dont have no money myself at the moment, like u say the moulds will cost abit but once there are plenty of orders they will pretty much pay for themselves (as i make fibreglass moulds for a living)

thats the thing mate, once the outlay for the molds has been made, its happy days, from then on, its just getting the orders/deposits, to get the molds made.
